Confidentiality Policy for Data Collected

Advantage Care Group’s confidentiality policy ensures the privacy of data collected through our programs, including Advantage Care Group Homes, which supports children and young people aged 6 to 21 years.

Our policy is to protect the privacy of every child, youth, and family we serve. There are instances when we may release information concerning client care to certain individuals involved in client care, payment for care, and other related activities.

Advantage Care Group has policies and procedures to ensure compliance with privacy regulations. These procedures address clients’ rights in accessing their records. Clients must be of the age of majority to request and receive information from their records. Clients may not inspect or obtain a copy of psychotherapy notes and information compiled in anticipation of legal actions. The Privacy Officer can provide additional information. 

Confidentiality

As required by law, we disclose certain information received in the course of providing services. Such disclosures include

  • Mandated disclosures by law (e.g., suspicion of child abuse/neglect).
  • Court-ordered disclosures.
  • Disclosures to prevent a serious threat to health or safety.

In addition:

For group counseling services, participants are informed of the need to respect the privacy of all other participants. We cannot control the conduct of other group members and make no representations regarding their conduct.

For Quality Improvement activities, various tools, including client databases, outcome questionnaires, surveys, and file reviews, are used to monitor progress and ensure clients receive the greatest benefit from services. All data is maintained in a secure, confidential manner. Summarized information and statistical data are used for reports, grant writing, and training purposes.
